He went on to appear on The Young and the Restless in 1995, and starred alongside Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Lisa Rinna in the television movie Vanished that same year.

His next big role came in 1996 when he played the son of Michelle Pfeiffer's character in One Fine Day, starring alongside Pfeiffer and George Clooney.

Linz then garnered international stardom when he replaced Macaulay Culkin's character for the third installment of the Home Alone franchise. Directed by Raja Gosnell, the film saw Linz star alongside a young Scarlett Johansson.

The movie followed young Alex as he defended his house from a dangerous group of international criminals while staying home from school with chicken pox.

Home Alone 3 received a lukewarm response from fans and critics, grossing $79.1 million at the box office, which was a far cry from the original film's $476.7 million haul. It later spawned a 2002 made-for-TV sequel, Home Alone 4.

Leaving Hollywood

Linz continued acting into the new millennium, starring in the Disney original film Max Keeble's Big Move in 2001 and appearing in 2002 alongside James Woods. He also took on roles in television shows including ER and Providence.

During his time as a student at Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles, Linz fronted a local garage band called The Fez Armada.

His final film credit was the 2007 indie drama Choose Connor, after which he left acting behind for good.

He enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He later obtained a master's degree in urban and regional planning at the University of California in 2017.

In 2023, Linz started a career as a legal analyst.

Death of Tim Curry

The sighting of Linz came just a day before the death of Home Alone 2 star Tim Curry. The legendary film and television actor died at the age of 80 on Tuesday night, with his manager confirming the news on Wednesday.

A cause of death was not given, but Curry had been suffering with serious health issues for more than a decade. A stroke in 2012 left him unable to walk.

Curry was best known for playing Dr Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. His other iconic roles came in films such as Clue, Annie, Home Alone 2 and It.
