Adler tourist vows never to return after hotel stay

A Russian tourist visiting the resort district of Adler has declared she will probably never return after experiencing poor accommodation conditions at the Briz Hotel during a family holiday. The traveller shared her review with the travel portal Tonkosti Turizma, with her account published on the online platform Dzen.

The guest stated that her family was placed in a small room equipped with a double bed, a single bed, a folding cot, and an air conditioner that functioned poorly. The accommodation contained only two windows, with one opening onto a shared floor area facing neighbours and the other consisting of a small ventilation window inside a cramped bathroom.

Sanitary issues and lack of amenities further disrupted the family stay, according to the review. The traveller complained about weak water pressure in the shower, which caused hot and cold water to flow improperly. She also reported noticeable dust across the room, a toilet affected by rust and mould, and the complete absence of a swimming pool at the hotel.

Value for money and travel advice

Addressing the financial aspect of the trip, the author stated that the room price failed to justify the quality provided by the hotel. She explained that when booking the accommodation, her family had expected far greater standards for the money spent, but the reality proved completely different. She added that she could not recall a single significant advantage of the venue.

Following her experience, she advised other tourists against overpaying for accommodation located close to the sea. Instead, she recommended choosing a quieter location further away to rest in comfort, noting that travellers can easily reach the beach by local bus, taxi, or rental car.

Resort location and platform context

Adler is a prominent coastal resort district situated within the city of Sochi along the Black Sea in southwestern Russia. Positioned near the Caucasus Mountains and the border with Abkhazia, the area forms the southernmost district of Greater Sochi. It is home to Sochi International Airport and major coastal infrastructure constructed for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, making it one of Russia's primary domestic summer travel destinations.

The report was originally gathered by Tonkosti Turizma, a Russian digital travel publication that aggregates reader reviews, destination guides, and advice for travellers. The account was subsequently shared on Dzen, a major Russian blogging engine and content recommendation platform.

Previous accommodation complaints

The criticism follows another recent report from a Russian woman who holidayed with her family in Adler on a trip costing 300,000 rubles. That tourist similarly highlighted negative aspects of her stay, noting that the rooms in her hotel, situated a 15-minute walk from the sea, were dirty.
