Acun Medya, the Turkish production company behind the Greek edition of Survivor, has issued a public statement responding to accusations made by Stavros Floros, saying it has not received any official notification of a lawsuit being filed against it.
In its statement, the company said it has always stood by contestants on its television programmes and has shown in practice that it cares about and supports them, both morally and materially. It said it would not tolerate slanderous behaviour, indecent attacks or provocative, malicious comments directed at it.
Company denies foreign press claims
Acun Medya said it categorically rejected claims that had circulated in the foreign press, saying it would take legal action to protect its corporate standing. Referring to recent reports that reproduced foreign press coverage, the company said the accusations against it were provocatively unfounded, entirely baseless and slanderous.
The company said it categorically denied the content of these reports, stated it had not been informed of any lawsuit filed against it and did not know its contents, and said it reserved all its legal rights before all competent courts and authorities against anyone responsible.
Warning against further publication
The company went further, stating that it explicitly and categorically prohibited the reproduction or publication of the reports in question through any medium, along with any reference to them. It said the material directly targeted the reputation and standing of the company and warned it would show zero tolerance toward anyone who violated this instruction.
Survivor is a reality television competition broadcast in Greece, produced by Acun Medya, a company founded by the Turkish media figure Acun Ilıcalı that also produces versions of the format in Turkey and other countries. The programme has previously drawn scrutiny over how it treats contestants during filming.
Acun Medya's statement did not detail the specific allegations made by Floros or say whether legal proceedings have since been confirmed.
