Soviet actress Natalya Trubnikova, described as the main princess of Soviet cinema and star of the musical 31 June, has died at age 71. A neighbor discovered her inside an apartment in central Moscow.

Following the news, ballet artist and actress Lyudmila Vlasova shared memories of working with Trubnikova during a conversation with RT. Vlasova, who played Lady Ninett in the film, said an atmosphere of friendship reigned on set during the happy young years of their lives.

Memories from the set

Vlasova said that although their characters were rivals on screen, the two performers communicated magnificently when sharing scenes. She noted that both moved in a special, non-balletic way that was graceful and elegant, describing her own character as insidious and Trubnikova as romantic.

According to Vlasova, everyone recognized that the film was amazing, beautiful, and interesting, and it would have become an instant hit after its premiere. She said the musical aired with great success in a prime time slot on New Year's Eve, but was later put on the shelf because of the situation involving Sasha Godunov.
