United Nations Special Envoy Hans Grundberg warned on Friday that Yemen faces its highest risk of restarting a full scale conflict since 2022.

In a statement released by the organization, Grundberg said Yemen currently faces a greater risk of resuming a large scale conflict than at any point since the UN negotiated a truce in April 2022. The war in Yemen initially began in 2014 before the internationally recognized Government and Huthi rebels agreed to the truce agreement.

Huthi Attacks in Marib and Hadramut

The United Nations official denounced Huthi attacks carried out in recent days across Marib and Hadramut provinces. The strikes resulted in dozens of deaths among military personnel, civilians, and displaced people.

The recent violence occurred amid an escalation of tension in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
