Television creator Taylor Sheridan has cancelled 6666, the planned Texas-set spin-off of his hit drama series Yellowstone, confirming the project will not move forward.
Sheridan confirmed during an interview on the Rodeo Time podcast that the spin-off is officially dead, stating that there will not be one and that he would never turn the real Texas ranch into television fiction.

Paramount officially announced 6666 in 2022 as an expansion of the television universe created by Sheridan. The series was designed to move the franchise focus from Montana to Texas and center on the historical Four Sixes Ranch, which is also known as 6666.
Jimmy Hurdstrom storyline
The concept for 6666 was integrated into Yellowstone during its fourth season, when the character Jimmy Hurdstrom, played by Jefferson White, left Montana for the Texas ranch. The storyline showed the character starting a new phase as a cowboy, gaining practical experience and earning the respect of the ranch workers.
White's narrative arc served as the primary link between Yellowstone and the planned spin-off. Sheridan noted that he retains all of White's scenes at the Four Sixes Ranch on his computer, which effectively form a standalone film when edited together. He added that the sequence already captures the character's full transformation from a misfit into a respected cowboy, allowing the story to stand on its own.
Ranch ownership and protection
The decision to discard the spin-off is tied to the real-world operation of the property. Sheridan purchased the Four Sixes Ranch alongside an investment group in 2020 and subsequently decided against using the working ranch to stage fictional conflicts.
Sheridan explained that filming a drama there would trivialize a setting where real people work and raise their families. He emphasized that he feels protective of the Four Sixes Ranch and holds a direct responsibility to its workers, preferring to maintain the property as an active cattle ranch rather than a television set.
Yellowstone franchise context
Yellowstone is a popular neo-Western drama series created by Sheridan for Paramount, following the conflicts surrounding a large Montana cattle ranch. The series has expanded into a broader television franchise with prequel series such as 1883 and 1923. Paramount continues to develop other active projects within the universe, including Marshals: A Yellowstone Story, Dutton Ranch, and The Madison, all of which have announced upcoming seasons.
