A 38-year-old American woman named Amanda Coates has opened up about sharing her husband, Dennis, with her best friend, Victoria, describing a household where all three sleep in one bed and raise eight children together. Their story was published by Jam Press.
Amanda said Victoria became part of the family almost by accident. After Victoria went through a divorce and found herself in a difficult situation, Amanda invited her to move in with her and Dennis. At the time, Amanda and Dennis had already been together for 13 years and were considering an open marriage. Amanda said it was she who encouraged her husband to begin pursuing a relationship with her friend.
Sharing one husband
Both women said they are comfortable sharing a husband, though they acknowledged the arrangement is not for everyone. The three of them sleep together in one bed, and Amanda and Victoria are raising eight children between them, some from previous marriages and others fathered by Dennis.

Amanda said she sometimes forgets which children she gave birth to and which were Victoria's, because she treats all of them the same way.
Not a romantic relationship
Amanda stressed that she and Victoria are not romantically involved. She described Victoria as her heterosexual life companion, her complement and her best friend for life.
Amanda admitted she was jealous of the relationship between her husband and her friend when it first began. She said the three of them have since learned to work through conflicts by talking things out. She described the household as a team that strives to function as one, adding that the family's wellbeing is their collective priority.
A similar story from Brazil
The report follows an earlier case involving twin sisters from Brazil, Laila Alves and Lara Alves Rueda, who said they had been sharing one husband for six years. According to that account, the man alternates each night between which sister he sleeps with.
