Wizz Air has begun gradually restoring flights to the Middle East that were suspended because of the war in Iran and its aftermath, the Hungarian low-cost airline said on its website.
This week the carrier resumed flights to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Amman in Jordan. Flights to Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates are due to restart on October 25, 2026.
Wizz Air said it would gradually bring back 12 routes and 49 weekly flights to Jordan, the UAE and Saudi Arabia over the winter season, restoring traveller access to the Arabian Peninsula.
What Wizz Air Said
The airline said the restored flights would provide 470,000 seats over the winter season, giving customers from nine European cities direct and affordable access to sunshine year-round, notable beaches and some of the Middle East's most exciting cultural and entertainment hubs, according to the airline's statement.
Ticket prices on these routes start from 24.99 euros at launch, available on wizzair.com and the WIZZ mobile app.
The Restored Routes
According to the airline, the resumed Middle East routes are:
- Milan, Italy, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from September 6
- Rome, Italy, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from September 7
- Budapest, Hungary, to Amman, Jordan, from September 22
- Budapest, Hungary, to Abu Dhabi, UAE, from October 25
- Budapest, Hungary, to Dubai, UAE, from October 25
- Katowice, Poland, to Abu Dhabi, UAE, from October 25
- Bucharest, Romania, to Dubai, UAE, from October 25
- Budapest, Hungary, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from October 27
- Cluj, Romania, to Abu Dhabi, UAE, from October 27
- Krakow, Poland, to Abu Dhabi, UAE, from October 27
- Larnaca, Cyprus, to Abu Dhabi, UAE, from October 27
- Sofia, Bulgaria, to Abu Dhabi, UAE, from October 27
Safety Reviews Behind the Phased Return
Wizz Air said the phased resumption of air links with these countries follows recommendations from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency for the region, as well as the airline's own comprehensive operational and safety assessments. Wizz Air is a Hungarian ultra-low-cost carrier that operates across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
The airline said it would continue to closely monitor developments and coordinate with the relevant authorities, and that all services would remain subject to ongoing operational and safety assessment.
Other Wizz Air Moves
Wizz Air has also launched new scheduled flights from Poland to resorts in Egypt, and increased the number of flights from Chisinau in Moldova, a route that has made it easier for Ukrainians to travel abroad.
