The United States media outlet Deadline first reported the initiative on Thursday. Selected theaters from the AMC chain across the country will host the screenings of the three season one episodes, allowing fans of the Matthew Rhys vehicle to watch the finale on the big screen as part of a marketing and viewer loyalty strategy. The show joins a select group of streaming productions that have held limited theatrical fan events, including Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV, said the platform is excited to bring the series to viewers so they can experience the season finale in a community setting. Cherniss also praised creator and showrunner Katie Dippold for building a unique narrative universe filled with witty humor.

Emmy Nominations and Critical Success

The theatrical announcement follows major critical acclaim for the comedy series. Despite debuting in the final stretch of the television season, La maldición de Widow's Bay secured 19 Emmy nominations, the highest total for any new series this year. Its nominations include Best Comedy Series and Best Lead Actor for Rhys, along with writing nominations for Dippold and directing nominations for Hiro Murai, who handled the staging.

Following its success, Apple TV renewed the series for a second season and signed a global exclusivity agreement with Dippold. Meanwhile, the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where Dippold studied, celebrated the screening event as a recognition of its former student's talent while highlighting the story's connection to the cultural fabric of New Jersey.
