The University of Piraeus is launching the second cycle of its specialised diploma in Pharmaceutical Market Access, following the successful completion of the programme's first round. The course reopens what the university calls an educational gateway into one of the most demanding and fast-changing areas of the pharmaceutical market.
The second cycle of the "Diploma in Pharmaceutical Market Access" has been redesigned and updated, with the aim of giving market professionals the tools, knowledge and specialisation that the modern pharmaceutical environment requires.
The programme is run by the University of Piraeus's Centre for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM), in cooperation with the Laboratory of Health Economics and Management (LabHEM) at the university's Department of Economics and the Hellenic Association of Market Access (ELEMA), a scientific association. Professor Athanasios Vozikis of the Department of Economics is the programme's academic director.
Where Science Meets Access to Medicine
Market access now sits at the centre of modern pharmaceutical policy. It covers the assessment of a treatment's value, reimbursement, pricing, patient access to innovation, and interaction with the regulatory and institutional environment.
Together, these areas form a complex field in which scientific knowledge has to meet strategy and an understanding of the market. The new cycle of the programme is designed to respond to that need.
The course runs for nine months and carries 14.7 ECTS credits. It has been structured to cover the current and constantly shifting requirements of pharmaceutical market access and governmental affairs. Teaching combines theoretical training with practical knowledge, delivered by academics and experienced professionals from the pharmaceutical industry and the wider health sector.
