Peruvian sports club Universitario de Deportes will host the second edition of the Bitel 8K Monumental Race on September 27, uniting thousands of supporters, families, amateur athletes, and experienced runners for a day of athletic competition and community fellowship.
Tickets for the eight-kilometer run are available to the public through the official website of Peruvian ticketing platform Teleticket. Admission is priced at 60 Peruvian soles for official club members and adherent members, while general supporters can purchase entry for 85 soles.
Organisers announced that every registered runner will receive an official participant kit containing collectible items. The package includes a special edition race t-shirt produced by sports apparel manufacturer Marathon Sports, an assigned participant bib number, and additional promotional merchandise supplied by corporate sponsors.
Sponsorship and 5G Technology
Mobile operator Bitel is serving as the main presenting sponsor for this second edition of the competition. Under a promotional theme centered on activating runner mode with Bitel unlimited 5G technology, the telecommunications company plans to deploy interactive brand experiences across every kilometer of the race course.
Company representatives said the activations will provide dedicated areas along the route where runners can recharge their energy, explore high-speed 5G technology, and share moments with fellow supporters. Bitel added that the partnership reflects its commitment to supporting athletics and helping individuals push past their limits both on and off the field.
Bitel is one of the principal telecommunications providers operating in Peru, known for expanding mobile broadband infrastructure across the country. Marathon Sports, an Ecuadorian sportswear manufacturer founded in 1981, serves as the official apparel provider for Universitario de Deportes, designing the club's distinctive match kits and athletic merchandise.
Club History and Community Initiatives
Universitario de Deportes is Peru's most decorated football institution, holding the national record for the most first-division league titles. Founded in 1924 by university students and professors in the gymnasium of the National University of San Marcos, the oldest university in the Americas, the Lima-based club has maintained a century-long tradition of developing athletic talent across multiple sports disciplines.
The club's supporters are widely known as the cream family due to the team's traditional cream-colored uniforms. The annual race takes its name from Estadio Monumental, the club's home venue located in the Ate district of Lima, which stands as one of the largest sports stadiums in South America.
Club leaders said the annual 8K race forms part of broader community initiatives intended to strengthen ties between the institution, its fanbase, and the general public. Organisers emphasized that the event promotes physical exercise as a tool to improve quality of life, encourage social integration, and inspire individuals of all ages to adopt healthy lifestyles.
