The Queen of Christmas, who won’t even challenge the mighty Dolly Parton for the title but the US government refuses to recognize, will perform in the 96th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 24th, it was announced today. Mariah Carey will arrive at around noon ET to perform – wait for it – “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
She posted the news on Instagram, bringing the traditional parade closer to Santa Claus becoming the equivalent of the man who follows the banjo player at the carnival.
“My childhood dream came true! I’m opening for the one and only Santa 🎅🏼 at this year’s @macys Thanksgiving Day Parade! 🎄🎉💫 Tune in for Thanksgiving Day @NBC! 💖☃️ #macyparade”
The usual helium balloons, marching bands and celebrities dubbing their hit songs will also be present at the parade. The Macy’s Parade is broadcast by NBC.
