“Dancing With The Stars”: A judge says goodbye and two more celebs go home

It’s the night of the semi-finals Dancing with the stars! We have to wonder how many people watched with us during season 31. Disney+ hasn’t released any reviews for the former ABC show, which isn’t an encouraging sign. And it’s a shame: DWTS helmed by executive producer Conrad Green has found its glory again, from inspiring cast members like Selma Blair and Daniel Durant to the refreshing way it has returned to the spotlight. ballroom dancing

Example: Throughout the season, the judges gave us “master classes” on how to perform a perfect genre of ballroom dancing. On Monday, for example, Pasha Pashkov and Daniella Karagach performed a flawless Viennese waltz while Derek Hough and Len Goodman provided insightful commentary. That’s why we love this show so much! Thanks for the much needed reminder, Mr. Green.

Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater. Slater doesn’t like her chances in the semis; The last three times she performed Cha Cha with her celebrity partner, she was eliminated. Tonight may be no different: The judges weren’t entirely thrilled with his shirtless performance. (Will he only dance in panties if he makes it to the finals?) “It’s amazing to see how far you’ve come,” Hough said. “You’re always so fun to watch and you always make me feel insecure about my body.” Score points: 32 out of 40

Daniel Durant and Brit Stewart. That KODA The actor feels like he’s in the cool club after last week’s results. What could be more fun than the cool club, the divine dancers guild? Because Durant’s Viennese waltz should qualify him for immediate membership. “You really are the fairy tale prince,” says Bruno Tonioli. “Everyone here fell in love with you. What gets you on the dance floor is absolutely amazing. You sailed across the dance floor.” Valuation: 35 out of 40

Shangela and Gleb Savchenko. No one seems to be enjoying this fight more than Shangela, who has never broken down in rehearsals or complained about her partner (who, to be fair, seems like a great guy). Tonight, Shangela was more giddy than ever as she danced the paso double to Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory.” “It’s so easy to love you for everything you do,” said Carrie Ann Inaba. “You dance no fear. You are never afraid to fail and I love that. It makes your performance so exciting.” Score points: 36 out of 40

Wayne Brady and Whitney Carson. Okay, this is difficult; the let’s make a deal admitted during rehearsal that he once looked lovingly at another woman during his marriage. He didn’t act on it, but he had something to do with his wife. To make a short story even shorter, they eventually divorced. Phew. Anyway, that was his inspiration for his Paso double. Safe? “Big first dance,” Hough said. “We have to be very selective. Your shoulders are rolled forward a little. It felt a little too angular for me. It’s semi-finals. But overall, it was still a strong dance.” Oh, and Carson announced that she’s expecting baby number 2! Score points: 36 out of 40

Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy. The Bachelorette talked about her recent split from Erich Schwer and how she wants to channel her parents’ relationship — not their failed showmanship — into her Viennese waltz. It worked! “You really looked like you came out of a dream,” Tonioli said. “We’ve seen a Viennese waltz before, it was amazing. It was just as beautiful in another way. The way you used the tempo changes…. Beautiful love!” perfect result

Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas. The leader’s body eventually collapses. Maybe it just happens to their feet. Actually, we are talking about a toe: it has an ingrown nail! But that certainly didn’t stand in the way of her Viennese waltz with her very lively professional partner. It even made Inaba cry! “It was perfection beyond perfection, just so open and so powerful!” she said. “Mark, I know I put pressure on you, but you made it on this dance floor tonight. It was extraordinarily spectacular.” perfect result

Next round!

Goodman started the second hour from DWTS announcing some sad news: this season will be her last! The head judge will love to spend time with the grandchildren, but he will definitely miss the beautiful hoofs. “I can’t thank you enough, the DWTS family,” said Goodman, who has been a part of the show since its inception in 2005. “It was a wonderful experience for me. I’m looking forward to the final next week. I’m sure it will be absolutely brilliant.”

Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater. The actor pooped pretty crazy; He keeps forgetting the steps in rehearsals and feels the weight of this season’s underdog. But the jury luckily threw him a bone after his graceful Viennese waltz. “I liked that there was a nice amount of money in the holding company,” Goodman said. “Very erratic at times, and it could have been a smoother move. Dancing is not easy for you. But I enjoyed watching your progress throughout the season. Well done.” Valuation: 33 out of 40

Daniel Durant and Brit Stewart. Serious, how did he do it? The actor’s samba was not only on point, but … as Inaba said, “had swagger.” “Oh my god, samba is the hardest dance on this show,” Hough said. “It has so much content. So fantastic that there was a moment when I was amazed by the technology.” Valuation: 34 out of 40

Wayne Brady and Whitney Carson. Brady chose “It’s a Man’s World” to perform the Viennese Waltz because it reminded him of the important women in his life! It also choked him when he spoke to Alfonso Ribeiro. “Now it’s a man’s world, I wish someone would tell my wife,” Goodman said. “As always, a brilliant performance. You really give everything you have, as always.” Valuation: 37 out of 40

Shangela and Gleb Savchenko. The drag queen got a gorgeous close-up before performing a silky (and acrobatic!) Viennese waltz to Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.” “I love it when you show your vulnerability,” Tonioli said. “Elegant, sophisticated. You are amazing and it shows.” Valuation: 37 out of 40

Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas. The leader does not understand how the paso double works. If Ballas is the matador, isn’t she the bull? No! she is the mantle and Goodman is the bull, says Ballas! Awww it’s not nice the night he quit! Goodman probably won’t mind. Here’s another great performance from the social media star. “Perfection is different for everyone,” said Inaba, who began her critique with a hug for D’Amlio and Ballas. “I believe your perfection is another level, madam. It’s incredible.” perfect result

Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy. The pro finds his partner very funny, but worries a little about her ability to appear so combative during the paso double. No more silly Gabby, he insists! Windey left the fun backstage behind, but it sure would be nice if her face showed a little more emotion. Still, the judges were impressed. “It was a dramatic increase until the end,” Tonioli said. “I was like a pressure cooker about to explode. Another great job Val. It was great!” perfect result

Donovan and Slater were immediately sent home for having the lowest vote count and the lowest jury score on Monday.

Durant/Stewart and Shangela/Savchenko stayed at the bottom two. Tonioli, Inaba and Hough rescue Shangela and Savchenko, allowing Durant to go home. What a great run for them KODA Actor!

Windey/Chmerkovskiy, D’Amelio/Ballas, Brady/Carson and Shangela/Savchenko are headed to next week’s finals.
