The actress is back in the skin of Mélisa Sainte-Rose. Has the police tandem he formed with Gaëlle Crivelli, played by Béatrice de La Boulaye, calmed down? Nothing is less sure…

Sainte-Rose was kidnapped at the end of season 2. In what mood do we find him?

Sonia Rolland: He is still very affected by this event, which will cause a different bond between him and Gaëlle Crivelli. Trusts and emotions invite them into their relationships. But rest assured, they remain the signature dog and cat of the series.

They have one thing in common: both are not good at love!

That’s why they get along well: They have the same flaws, the same broken lives. They are the women of their time, in the sense that they truly take on their freedom without being bound by tradition. My character is a super cop, but when it comes to his private life, he’s totally off track… You can’t have it all! This complexity is great to play.

This third season has a lot of guests…

They are the ones who want to come, this is very gratifying. Édouard Montoute joins us in the first episode to play a narcotics commander, a former colleague of Crivelli. We also welcomed Armelle Deutsch, who represents the good sister, and the brilliant Frédéric Bouraly, who plays a priest. Not to mention Francis Perrin, Jimmy Jean-Louis… Collaborating with such players is a gift.

Is the series taking a new step in unhindered humor?

Oh yes ! When you go to festivals, you see that the people are very attached to this disrespect. The writers realized they could afford what they wanted from us. I’ve never had such a rich role as an actress, which allowed me to explore my entire acting palette, something even unexpected. All this with the complicity of France 2, which has agreed to go one notch every year.

Is it difficult for you moms of two daughters to shoot four months away from the metropolis?

I am able to manage remotely. I couldn’t take them with me this year. The youngest entered the sixth grade, while the eldest passed his patent. Both wanted to stay in Paris not only to focus on their education but also to maintain their social life. Even though I always leave with a feeling of guilt, I understand that everything is rolling. This creates a different dialogue. They give themselves authority.

Do you still have a lot of fun playing the series?

Yes, and especially to find all this incredible team. I thought I had friends living in Paris recently and saw far less of her than Béa (Béatrice de La Boulaye, editor’s note). We live together four months of the year, which is huge. All of a sudden, my other friends got jealous. (laughs)

Do you have time for other projects?

I’m still developing documentaries and also editing a public service fiction: the story of a very special candidate for Miss France. This is taken from the experience of me and the other Ladies who have entrusted me with their testimonies. I am the screenwriter, director and co-producer of the project.
