The crown Star Jonathan Pryce told Times Radio that he once apologized to Princess Anne for playing her father in the series.
In an interview scheduled for Christmas Eve, Pryce told interviewers Kate McCann and Adam Boulton that royal eyes will indeed be watching The crown. The series offers a sometimes unflattering look behind the scenes of the royal family.
“One of our cast members met a member of the royal family who told him they were seeing the film,” said Pryce.
“When I was knighted and went to Windsor and Princess Anne called me and I was playing her father, there were signs that she saw something of that. And so she put the sword lightly on her shoulder, and I stood up and said – I thought she thought, you know – I said, “Oh, I don’t know what to tell you… um…” . Excuse? And she said, “Why?” It’s done now.
He added: “Whether she meant I’m apologizing for being here tonight or whether I’m apologizing, you know, you played my dad and it was done the way you did it, it’s, you know, what whatever.” It was a very amusing moment, at least for me.”
