Billy Crystal relives one of the most memorable moments of his most memorable career when he settled on Katz’s – the deli he immortalized The scene When Harry met Sally… – with Gayle King to discuss the impact of Rob Reiner’s classic romantic comedy. It was the actor’s first time returning to Katz since the film was shot there.
King asked Crystal what it meant that people from all over the world came to the table where they were filming the scene.
“It’s an amazing phenomenon that it’s touched people, and this little piece of history here in New York City — you know, the film is from 1989,” Crystal told the paper. CBS morning Co-host.
Crystal, one of the honorees at the 46th annual Kennedy Center Honors, says When Harry met Sally… has become increasingly important as new generations discover it.
“In fact, it becomes more important with time because people fall in love every day. Every day people lose their love. People find each other, they lose each other every day. And new generations continue to discover When Harry met Sally… You keep discovering it and we are forever young in this film. And we represent them. They relate to us,” Crystal said.
