The animated musical comedy series Central Park was canceled after three seasons on Apple TV+.
Josh Gad, co-creator and voice of Birdie, confirmed that the series will not continue after a fan asked if the series would return.
“Unfortunately, it’s finished,” Gad continued Wires.
Central Park is about the Tillerman-Hunter family from the perspective of street musician and narrator Birdie. The characters’ lives change when an elderly heiress named Bitsy Brandenham plans to buy up all the land in Central Park and develop it with apartments, shops and restaurants. The Tillermans also have to solve their problems and save the park.
The show was co-created by Gad, Loren Bouchard and Nora Smith and premiered on Apple’s streaming service in May 2020. The show ran for three seasons with a total of 39 episodes and the show’s voice actors included Kristen Bell, Tituss Burgess, Daveed Diggs, Josh Gad, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Stanley Tucci and Emmy Raver-Lampman.
In the first season, the show was criticized for casting Bell as the voice of Molly Tillerman, who is of mixed race. Bell was replaced by Raver-Lampman, who would take over the role for the rest of the show.
Bell returned to the series in Season 3, voicing the character of Abby, Paige’s (Hahn) little sister.
Deadline has reached out to Apple TV+ for comment and will update the story when we hear back.
