Channel 4’s CFO is leaving the Gogglebox network after five years

EXCLUSIVE: Channel 4’s chief financial officer is to leave the company after five years, at a difficult time for the broadcaster Glasses case Network.

Vince Russell has decided to leave the company at the end of the year and will work with Terry Downing, a former CFO of Endemol and Fox, on an interim basis until then. The search for a long-term replacement for CFO Russell has begun.

Russell joined Channel 4 in 2018 and has overseen its finances during the pandemic, the privatization period and, more recently, the economic downturn caused by the advertising recession. Before joining Channel 4, he worked for Sky in various finance and product roles.

His boss, chief operating officer Jonathan Allan, said Russell had “led the broadcaster through a very interesting period with great skill and unwavering good humor – guiding Channel 4 through the pandemic and delivering excellent results afterwards, including record revenues and program revenues.” in the year 2022.”

Russell “helped to soften the stress of much tougher market conditions over the past 18 months,” Allan’s statement said.

Russell’s announcement comes at a difficult time for Channel 4. The broadcaster has been hit hard by the advertising recession, which has canceled a number of shows and delayed their launch until 2025. Deadline’s analysis earlier this month found that producers are concerned that the network has tried to delay the premiere of shows until 2024 for political reasons, which is also having an effect. Channel 4 has repeatedly stressed it is a tough market and chief content officer Ian Katz recently said the broadcaster was “a bit more honest” than its rivals about the extent of the major delay in commissioning.
