The View’s Ana Navarro on Univision’s meeting with Donald Trump: “What the hell is going on?”

Ana Navarro is worried about what’s happening at Univision after the Spanish-language network appears to have shifted its strategy to defeat Donald Trump.

The political commentator and co-host of The view She took to social media to comment on the situation and she’s taking it so seriously that she shared a no-glare, no-filter video.

Navarro began the video with some background on Univision, praising them for being a “good player for the Latino community” over the years by keeping them informed about politics. However, she raised concerns about an interview with Trump broadcast by the network from his Mar-a-Lago residence and conducted by Enrique Acevedo, the most-watched television news anchor in Mexico, on TelevisaUnivision’s Las Estrellas network.

“It was a ridiculous interview. It was embarrassing. It was a no-holds-barred interview,” Navarro said of Acevedo’s Trump interview. “You’d think they were interviewing Barney the dinosaur. It was a love fest.”

Navarro reminded her supporters that Trump began his 2016 presidential campaign by “playing the immigration card” and “made a habit of insulting, attacking and otherwise insulting Latinos and Latino immigrants.”

“Watching the biggest network, the most important network in the Latino community – Univision – gives this guy a one-hour platform where there was no pressure… There were a lot of smiling faces. During the interview, there were references from Donald Trump to his friends who were there, from Univision, Univision executives. It raised a lot of questions,” she added. “I don’t know what the hell is going on at Univision, but I think we need to talk about it. I think we need to demand transparency and accountability from this very important and critical network for the Latino community.”

Navarro said she had heard Acevedo was a good journalist and was confused about what happened. She said: “It really makes you wonder if there was some sort of order telling him to act like that.”

The view The co-host also mentioned Univision’s sudden halt to Joe Biden commercials, which raised questions about why an interview with a Biden spokesperson that was scheduled to air after Trump’s interview was suddenly canceled.

“Then we find out that Jared Kushner is involved in this and has had conversations with Televisa executives and has become kind and friendly,” Navarro noted.

Navarro wonders if TelevisaUnivision is trying to work with Trump. If he wins the presidential election, he could ease restrictions that deny foreigners a majority stake in a US broadcaster.

“We are very concerned about what a change in ideology by the Mexican television network Televisa, which wants to befriend the people of America, could mean for the American elections. So now is the time to take action,” she concluded.
