The actors will vote on the tentative deal with the studios after SAG-AFTRA’s national board approves the deal.
However, Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, national executive director and chief negotiator, said the board only approved the deal by 86% and not unanimously.
“This has been made possible by members’ phenomenal solidarity and support for their bargaining committee and we are extremely grateful for the support of the entertainment industry unions who have stood with us throughout this strike,” he said.
Crabtree-Ireland said voting will begin on Tuesday and end in the first week of December.
The SAG-AFTRA press conference led by president Fran Drescher and Crabtree-Ireland to reveal some details of the proposals was delayed by about 90 minutes.
It follows a similar process to the WKV, with 99% of WGA members voting in favor of their own three-year agreement.
However, due to SAG-AFTRA’s large membership, the vote takes a little longer and is more complicated than the WKV. While the WGA has about 11,000 members, most of whom are digitally savvy, SAG-AFTRA has about 160,000 members and more people who must vote in person rather than online.
The WGA vote took a week.
The national board that ratified the tentative agreement includes president Fran Drescher, treasurer Joely Fisher and other vice presidents, as well as more than 65 other people, including stars such as Sean Astin, Josh Charles, Henry Ian Cusick, Frances Fisher and Elliott Gould, Dulé Hill, Michelle Hurd, Rosie O’Donnell, Billy Porter, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Sharon Stone and Lisa Ann Walter.
