Week 9 was a slow week for college football.
The Florida-Georgia game was the most-watched game of the week, but that’s not saying much since the CBS telecast only drew about 5.95 million viewers. This is the first time since Week 0, when there were only five games all weekend, that no game has reached 7 million viewers.
NBC’s broadcast of Ohio State’s loss to the Wisconsin Badgers was second with 4.87 million viewers.
The public seems to be losing a little interest in Colorado as the season wears off a bit, but the team’s game against UCLA this week still ended in third place. About 4.66 million people tuned into ABC to watch UCLA’s home win.
Oklahoma-Kansas and Indiana-Penn State rounded out the top five with 3.6 million and 3.4 million viewers, respectively. It’s worth nothing that Fox pulled out of Oklahoma-Kansas in favor of Oregon-Utah, which started about 30 minutes later.
The rest of Oklahoma-Kansas was on FS1, but who knows what kind of audience this game might have drawn had it stayed on Fox, as Kansas ended a 26-year losing streak and the Sooners suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday . . Oregon-Utah was a much sleeper game, with the Ducks outscoring the Utes.
As always, several networks do not have a Nielsen rating, meaning their viewership numbers are not reported week to week. These include the SEC Network, the ACC Network, the CBS Sports Network and the Pac-12 Network. ESPN+ and Peacock also lack Nielsen ratings for live programming.
