The Walking Dead Rick and Michonne series will not be called “The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne.” It will also not be called “The Walking Dead: Summit” (temporary production name). The original title of the new spinoff series starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira was revealed along with the series’ first official teaser at the Walking Dead Universe Fan Watch Party held in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.
“I’ve been gone for a long time”says Michonne, riding her raised katana through a sea of red. “I lost someone years ago. Then things changed. And I found out he was alive.”. Then we see flashes of that lost love, Rick Grimes…
The name of the series is revealed later – “The Walking Dead: The Living” – Accompanied by the words “Coming 2024”.
Expression “living” played an important role in theWalking Dead”. The history of this word dates back to ancient times. It was Rick who first voiced this in the TWD Season 5 episode “Try” after he ran into Pete Anderson (Corey Brill) on the street and challenged Alexandria’s most aggressive residents. “We know what we’re going to do and we’re doing it,” Deanna told Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh) and the group. “We are the living.
This line was later repeated by Michonne to Rick during the mid-Season 7 finale “Hearts Still Beating” in the makeshift prison in Alexandria. “We’re still alive, Rick,” Michonne said. “So much has happened. We shouldn’t have been through that much. Despite that, maybe we did because of him. We’re still here. Both of us. We’re still standing and will continue to be. So what do we do with it?
Michonne repeated these words to Rick one episode later in “Rock in the Road” after surviving a pack. “We are here! We are the living.”
While the main series has been pulled back after 11 successful seasons and the first spin-off, “Fear The Walking Dead”, concludes in the second half of Season 8, viewers still have a lot to cheer for. Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) spin-off series “The Walking Dead: Dead City” recently celebrated its arrival to AMC. Before “The Ones Who Live” arrives, there will also be the first season of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon”, which will feature Norman Reedus’ character who mysteriously hits the shores of France… A few days ago at Comic-Con, a teaser of the character was released on the streets of Paris… “The Walking Dead” series is definitely not ready to retire!
