Eurovision 2022: penultimate disaster for France, Ukraine winner

Ukraine won for the third time the France 2 Eurovision 2022, which was broadcast live from Turin on Saturday 14 May.

The 66th edition of the Eurovision song contest took place in Turin on Saturday, 14 May. The event was broadcast live on France 2, commented by Laurence Boccolini and Stéphane Bern, and hosted by Laura Pausini, Mika (who put on an amazing show) and Alessandro Cattelan. France represented by the Breton quartet and the title full (see their performance here), finishing in the penultimate position 24th out of 25 countries in this final, with just 17 points awarded by the jury and the audience.

After winning Eurovision in 2004 and then in 2016. Festive and dizzying championship Stefania Shining with the ensemble’s mix of genres, the Kalush Orchestra won the hearts of those who voted for the country that is the favourite, this 2022 edition. Ukraine comes out with a great victory with a total of 631 points! The jury had largely voted for England and in the end they placed 466 points ahead of Spain and second place with 459 points. Therefore, only Germany scored less than France and have to settle for only six points. Italy, who organized the evening and won the 2021 competition thanks to the rock band Maneskin, is leaving with a very good 6th place with its head held high.

Tradition states that the country that wins Eurovision is the host of the next edition. Stéphane Bern said the organization was exceptionally considering an alternative solution, given the context of the war.
