Singer Claude Barzotti dies at 69

Belgian singer Claude Barzotti, whose popular songs such as “Le Rital”, “Aime-Moi” and “I won’t write to you anymore” in the 1980s touched the hearts of many, passed away at the age of 69. “surrounded by his two daughters”.

The Italian-born musician was 69 years old and lived in Belgium.

Laurent Comtat said he “died in his bed surrounded by his two daughters”. The late singer’s manager added, “Claude Barzotti preferred to be described as an emotional singer rather than a romantic one. He was lively, brazen, genuinely sensitive, drinking to fight stage fright.” The musician sang hit songs throughout his career, which ended in 2020, such as Love me lady, or I will no longer write to you.

Claude Barzotti was integral to one of his greatest achievements: the title of “Le Rital”.

In this famous song, the artist emotionally evokes his Italian roots.

But Claude Barzotti’s life is not rosy. Indeed, the Belgian singer had to fight against alcohol addiction. “I started drinking out of stress at the age of 33. We’re not very smart in normal times anyway, and when we drink we become even more stupid. But alcoholism is unfortunately a disease,” he said. “I travel back and forth between my house and the hospital.

Claude Barzotti spoke openly about his alcohol problem on Belgian television and admitted to consuming five or six bottles of whiskey at certain times a day.

The addicted singer said she takes at least 20 drugs a day to treat alcohol-related health problems.
