Protesters sing hymns "not my king" Before the coronation of Charles III

The police, since this morning, have been serving King Henry III.

Today is a historic day in England. Charles III, mother of Queen Elizabeth II. More than 70 years after Elizabeth, he will be crowned King.

Thousands of guests are expected at Buckingham Palace, and crowds have poured into the streets since the early morning hours to catch a glimpse of Charles and Queen Camilla.

As the crowd began to grow, anti-monarchists chanted “Not my king”, which was met with rival boos and slogans “God Bless the King”.

Republic supporters dressed in yellow and waving banners stood side by side with supporters of the royal family dressed in Union Jack flags, as thousands lined the way to the parade.

Police later arrested a brash royalist who shouted “He’s My King” and was detained for allegedly throwing an object and taken to Trafalgar Square by two officers.

Metropolitan Police said numerous arrests were made and individuals were being held “on suspicion of disturbing public order”.

As many as 2,000 people are expected to join the peaceful ‘Not My King’ protests in Trafalgar Square.

Scotland Yard said several people were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to disrupt public order and disturb the public near the coronation. Law enforcement also searched a truck and seized multiple yellow signs with the slogan “Not My King”, which sparked a social media backlash for the repression.

In a statement posted on Twitter, law enforcement said: “A major police operation is underway in central London.”
