Usher has a decade-long career that includes several musical hits, but has never played a Super Bowl halftime show.
The Grammy-winning artist appeared at the 2011 NFL Championship game to sing “OMG” in support of the Black Eyed Peas, who headlined the show. In a recent interview, Usher was asked if he would be interested in taking the stage at the Super Bowl.
“It would be crazy to say no,” he told Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans. “If things go as we all hope, that moment will come one day. I had the chance to walk the stage in support of ‘OMG’ and Will.i.am, but it was a moment.
Usher continued: “I think I’ve got a catalog that’s obviously self-explanatory, so of course it’s about football to be able to celebrate this day, but everyone really expects the performance. Watch Michael Jackson perform and see Snoop recently [Dogg] And [Dr.] Dre… to see so many incredible acts like Prince… it’s always been a bucket list item.
Evans then said that the manifestation and distribution of Usher could possibly land him on the Super Bowl podium.
Rihanna was the last headliner at the Super Bowl earlier this year. In 2022, Dr. At halftime, Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar take the stage. In 2021 it was The Weeknd who showcased their talent and in 2020 it was Shakira and Jennifer Lopez who graced the stage.
