Kate Middleton and Prince William’s youngest child celebrates his fifth birthday today, Sunday, April 23, 2023, and proud parents have celebrated the occasion by releasing new portraits. Both photos were taken by photographer Millie Pilkington earlier this month.
“Someone turns 5 tomorrow… a very happy birthday to Prince Louis,” she wrote on her Instagram post.

In the first photo, Prince Louis is smiling, sitting in a wheelbarrow on the grass and leaves, while his mother, wearing a black and white striped top, takes him for a stroll. The teenage boy is wearing a plaid shirt and a blue sweater over shorts.
A second photo shows a close-up view of Louis smiling as he looks away.
Contrary to tradition, the Princess of Wales did not go behind the camera for new images of her son. Kate, who previously described herself as an “enthusiastic amateur photographer”, regularly takes photos of her three children, which are in public on their birthdays.
On Friday, on Queen Elizabeth’s 97th birthday, the palace released a never-before-seen photo taken by Kate at Balmoral last summer with some of the monarch’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Prince Louis has had an exciting year to please fans of the royal family. Besides returning to a new school with her siblings in September, she also debuted at various events with the royal family. He made his first trip with the royal family for Christmas in December, joined them for their annual church visit, and made a similar appearance to attend Easter Sunday mass earlier in the month.
Louis also married his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in June. It made headlines by celebrating Elizabeth’s platinum anniversary at a series of events. The young prince was the star of the show during the platinum jubilee ceremony, sitting on the lap of his grandfather Charles and pouting at his mother Kate.
We do not yet know whether the Little Prince will attend the coronation of his grandfather Charles III on May 6, accompanied by his brother George and sister Charlotte…
