Ant-Man is your greatest achievement. what inspires you?
Michael Douglas: I love wonders! My son Dylan told me during the screening of the first episode, “Dad, this movie will be good for your career, you will gain a new audience. You must already be thinking of making a sequel. (Laughs) He was right!
Do you have to act in a superhero movie?
It was a great opportunity for me. While they don’t want to hand the gloss brush over to Marvel, they know how to do it. Their power is cast. Check out Robert Downey Jr. His career wasn’t at its peak when they cast him for Iron Man, but they believed it. A genius idea!
You were playing on a green screen for the first time…
Yes, and that makes you vulnerable. Director Peyton Reed tells you things that don’t exist. You have to completely trust him. On set, I envied Paul Rudd, his wit, his demeanor. Sometimes he improvised while telling me exactly what to do.
Who were your childhood superheroes?
Cowboys! When I was little, there were no superhero movies, only westerns. My heroes were John Wayne… and Kirk Douglas (father, editor’s note).
Ant-Man and the Wasp will air on TF1 on Sunday, February 26 at 9:10 PM
