Gru, a boy in Seventies America, dreams of joining The Vicious 6 gang of super villains and will do whatever it takes to prove his cruelty to them. Gentle rascals without borders, the Minions will do anything to support him in his evil project…
booster capsule
We all fell in love with these mini yellow creatures in the shape of an oval capsule in 2010. Created by French Pierre Coffin, these characters were secondary characters in the Despicable Me series. Since then, the Minions have stolen the show from their evil master Gru in the first movie dedicated to them, which was released in 2015.
I’m ugly and cowardly
This sequel sees the infamous go back to the seventies and meet 12-year-old pre-teen Gru (still voiced by Gad Elmaleh) who didn’t expect them to dream of “super notoriety.” This throwback runs through crazy hits, kung fu movies, and the crazy Minions of ’70s pop culture, including Flower Power.
JCVD is a joke
This second piece also applies to the vocal staff. Jean-Claude Van Damme loans a member of the Vicious 6 gang (hello Sid Vicious from the Sex Pistols) that Gru wants to join. The giant mechanical lobster claw he wore earned him the first name Jean-Clawde, which means claw in English. It’s simply a “petite” joke.
