Trevor Noah discusses life without a desk with James Corden in a cameo on Late Late Show

James Corden faced a dilemma just before a segment titled “Side Effects May Include” on Thursday’s The Late Late Show.

“If someone could just help me with this piece. I need someone who has experience reading a teleprompter, someone who has experience sitting behind a desk,” Corden said.

Enter Trevor Noah, an unannounced but welcome guest who has come to the rescue.

After a hug, Corden immediately raised the question on everyone’s mind: How does Noah feel after leaving “The Daily Show” last year? How does it feel to be behind a desk again? “Suffocating,” Noah remarked with a grin.

Corden himself is facing an exit in the coming months after announcing that he will end his tenure with the show before this summer. This was, of course, the main topic of conversation. Noah jokingly said his departure was “the worst mistake I’ve ever made,” but quickly added, “It’s amazing.”

“Everything has an end in life. Every journey has to come to an end,” Noah said as he reflected on his decision to leave his Comedy Central show. “There will always be moments you miss. Anything you enjoy doing well, you will miss certain elements of it. And then there are new parts of life you discover: things you didn’t know you could do, things you didn’t know you wanted to do, waking up with your mind in an almost entirely different dimension on a strange way. “

The best part?

“Now I read the news when I want to read the news,” Noah said. “So now I’m going to say, ‘Oh, maybe I won’t read it in the morning. Maybe I’ll read it this afternoon.’ Sometimes I’ll read two days’ worth of news in one day, then I’ll skip a day, and you might ask me something and be like, “Hey, did you hear about this?” And I’m like, ‘No, I haven’t, but maybe in a week.’
