The Mysterious Benedict Society has been canceled after two seasons on Disney+

There will be no third season The mysterious Benedict Society, the adventure series starring Tony Hale. The news, which comes to the streamer more than a month after season 2 ended, was revealed on Twitter by co-creator/executive producer Phil Hay.

“Dear friends, Season 2 is the end of The mysterious Benedict SocietyTravel with Disney+. We love everyone who helped make this truly special and indeed life-affirming experience possible. No regrets – so proud of what we made!, Hay wrote. “The great thing about streaming is that the show is on Disney+ and you can find it anytime. Spoiler alert for the end of the story: the kids will be friends forever.”

Based on Trenton Lee Stewart’s bestselling YA book series, The mysterious Benedict Society was originally greenlit by Hulu and was one of the last series developed and sold by the late producer Jamie Tarses. It moved to Disney+ before the series premiere.

We’ve reached out to Disney+ for comment.

Season two began with the team of four intrepid orphans reunited a year after their first mission, when they were rescued by Mr. Benedict (Hale) and his cohorts have been summoned to deal with the ominous “emergency” brought about by Benedict’s twin brother, Dr. LD Curtain (also Hale). Embarking on a perilous journey, they rely on their wits, intellect and empathy to try and stop Curtain as he embarks on a new strategy with global ramifications.

Except twice sweep Emmy winner Hale, The mysterious Benedict Society With Kristen Schaal, MaameYaa Boafo, Ryan Hurst, Gia Sandhu, Seth B. Carr, Emmy DeOliveira, Mystic Inscho and Marta Kessler.

Matt Manfredi and Hay are writers/creators/executive producers of the series, with Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin serving as executive producers and showrunners. Other executive producers included Tarses, Karen Kehela Sherwood, Deepak Nayar, David Ellender, Matt Loze and James Bobin. The mysterious Benedict Society was produced by 20th Television in association with Halcyon Studios, a chicken soup for Soul Entertainment.
