“Extra” host Billy Bush conducted Lisa Marie Presley’s final interview on the red carpet at the Golden Globes and immediately knew something was wrong.
Elvis Presley’s only daughter died on Thursday at the age of 54, just two days after he walked the red carpet at the Golden Globes. She was living on support elvis the Baz Luhrmann biography about her father.
Bush recalled his brief red carpet conversation with a stunning and uncertain Lisa Marie.
“She was very uneven in her balance,” Bush (51) told Fox LA. “The speech was very slow. And sure enough, when the interview was over, I turned to my producer next to me and said, ‘Something’s wrong here.’
“She was aware of that. She must have been there, just a second too late. But she was there. It was definitely there, but a little far,” Bush added.
For Bush’s interviews, the stars had to walk two steps to the platform on which he stood. Presley had a hard time with it, Bush said.
“It was clear that she would not make the two flights. I went down and met her myself on the carpet,” he said.
Video of Presley at the event shows her stumbling toward the Globes. She was mentored by manager Jerry Schilling, and early in the Bush interview she told Schilling, “I’ll grab your arm,” apparently for support. (Watch a full video of the interview above)
An official cause of death for Lisa Marie Presley has not been determined.
