A Song of Ice and Fire Author George RR Martin offered another update on the status of the future game of thrones Projects and shared that the upcoming franchise’s path will “definitely” be shaped to some degree by the current turmoil at HBO Max.
Martin says this beyond the prequel home of the dragonwhich has been renewed for a second season,” some [spinoffs] moving faster than others, as is always the case with development. So far none have been given the green light, although we hope…maybe soon.”
He added that some additional projects are “on the shelf,” though he doesn’t consider the projects dead. “You can take something off the shelf just as easily as you can put it on the shelf,” says Martin. “[Though] All the changes at HBO Max definitely had an impact on us.”
Martin’s latest comments on the future of GoT came in a post on his blog, Not A Blog, published on Wednesday. His comments on the situation at HBO Max relate to the suspension and/or removal of numerous notable films and television series from the platform during a time of economic uncertainty following the merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. (bitch, Gordita Chronicles and love life (These are just a few examples of titles recently affected by content write-offs.)
How far-reaching the plans are is still unclear game of thrones become a franchise. But Martin assured fans in yesterday’s post that he is currently working home of the dragon Season 2, as co-creator and EP of this show. His series is also still in development Wild cards by peacock
