Henry Cavill has announced his departure The Witcher Earlier this year when he confirmed his return as Superman Black Adam, which ultimately failed when new DC minds restructured the universe. However, Season 3 of the Netflix series has already been filmed and showrunner Lauren Hissrich teased about the upcoming season.
Cavill plays Geralt of Rivia and Hissrich said he will have a “heroic farewell” as the show prepares to welcome Liam Hemsworth, who will star in Season 4.
Geralt’s big turn is to give up neutrality and do whatever he has to do to get to Ciri [Freya Allan]. And to me, that’s the most heroic goodbye we can have, even if it doesn’t say that,” Hissrich told Entertainment Weekly. “Geralt has a new mission in mind when we come back to him in Season 4. He’s a slightly different Geralt than we expected. That’s an understatement by the way.”
Netflix given The Witcher an early extension of season 4 before season 3 starts streaming. In a statement, Cavill was grateful for his time on the show and welcomed Hemsworth.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with monsters and adventures, and sadly I will be laying down my medal and swords for Season 4,” he said. “In my place, the wonderful Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest figures in literature, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent imitating Geralt and with enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most intriguing and nuanced man. Liam dear sir this character has such incredible depth, enjoy diving in and see what you can find.
Since departure The Witcher and Cavill was dropped to play Superman in the DC Universe and has since signed with Star and EP Warhammer 40,000 for Amazon Studios.
