If you feel the need to get away from the stress of daily life and get away from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city, there may be a better way to do it close to home and in full contact with nature. Appears with these facilities Lanchas StraitA small forested valley near Toledo wide variety of flora and fauna this will teleport us to another world.
Located in the Sierra de Sevilleja and just over two hours’ drive from the city of Toledo, this place is a small forested valley whose waters are crossed by a stream that flows into the Gévalo River. Protected by a wide variety of endangered species, its landscapes promise to leave us speechless. In addition, along the way we will find several waterfalls that will transport us to a secret place on the Earth’s surface. It’s the perfect place to disconnect without having to board a plane.

In 2003, Garganta de las Lanchas was declared a Micro-Reserve, forming part of the “Montes de Toledo” Special Conservation Area for Birds. With these predecessors we can see here the emperor eagle and black stork among many species. It has a total area of 435 hectares.
what see
build a mountain chain In Montes de Toledo, which is more than 200 million years old, we find an almost hidden valley where numerous plant species naturally create a small wild garden. The humidity and persistent warmth of the environment made it possible to preserve species native to oceanic and even subtropical climates.

To visit this place is to escape from the crazy stress of daily life by visiting different streams and/or waterfalls hanging from the stone boats that give the Gorge its name. Not surprisingly, during the rainy season these waterfalls present their best.
Flora and fauna we will meet
As we mentioned earlier, this place offers a wide variety of flora and fauna that we may not see elsewhere. As such, the most curious fauna species in the valley is the black-green lizard known only in Montes de Toledo and the Sierra de Ayllón. While it’s not easy to see, it’s not hard to recognize from the color pattern that gives it its name. We can also see large game fauna, roe deer, wild boar and deer, as well as large birds of prey such as golden eagles, short-toed eagles or goshawks.

As far as flora is concerned, perhaps the rarest and most unique of all the plant species we can find in this place is an evergreen tree called the parrot, related to prunes, rose bushes, and other similar species. We can also see other unique species such as yew, holly, birch or mountain ash.
How to take
La Garganta de las Lanchas offers a free visit, but permission must be requested if you plan to go in groups of more than 20 people or if you are going to make company-organized visits. Robledo del Marzo is the nearest municipality reached by CM-401 from Toledo. From the town, the micro-reserve is accessed via the TO-1089 road. From inside the town of Las Hunfrías, next to the cemetery, a path to the valley begins.
