A honeymoon should be the most romantic and relaxing vacation you’ll ever have, but things don’t always go according to plan.
Lisa Pickering, who is originally from the UK but moved to Singapore, was one of those newlyweds whose holiday was struck by disaster.
She revealed that it had always been her dream to visit Rome and after tying the knot, she planned an extensive trip to Italy for her and her husband.
But the former primary school teacher has now openly explained where it all went wrong.

The morning after tying the knot, Lisa and her new husband traveled from London to Rome to begin their romantic getaway, aiming to see all the famous sights and indulge in Italian delicacies.
But they encountered their first hurdle early on.
Lisa, who found out she was pregnant a few weeks before the wedding, told Insider: “I was exhausted from socializing and morning sickness … I just wanted to sleep – raising a baby is pretty stressful.”
She openly revealed that since it was her first child, she was worried about what she could and couldn’t eat during pregnancy.
This meant that instead of sampling the best food and drink the tourist hotspot had to offer, she was just “looking for fruits and vegetables.”
In the following days, Lisa and her husband “found the energy to go sightseeing” – mostly on foot.
She wrote that it was “challenging to fight nausea during an August heat wave.”
Things went downhill even further when a pickpocket stole her husband’s laptop.

The couple later welcomed a healthy baby boy when they added another boy to their brood a few years later
“Spending half a day filing a police report was not the best start to the journey I had imagined all these years,” Lisa admitted.

Lisa only discovered she was pregnant a few weeks before the wedding
Lisa and her husband decided to rent a car to admire the scenery in places like Sorrento, Positano and Capri.
But before they left, they drove through the Italian capital to collect their luggage from the hotel to check out.
She wrote: “Unfortunately, we didn’t know we were driving through a restricted traffic zone, a restricted area common in older European cities that requires a permit to pass through.”
“We received a large fine which we ignored because we thought it was a scam.” The following debt collection letters would prove that this was not the case.
Lisa, who is also a trained music therapist, concludes: “I’ve dreamed of visiting Italy for years, but I guess expectations can never quite live up to reality.”
