Singapore Changi Airport has been named the best airport in the world at the 2023 Skytrax World Airport Awards, also known as the “Oscars of the Airport Industry”.
The airport, home to the world’s tallest 40-metre indoor waterfall and a previous 11-time overall winner, also won the awards for World’s Best Airport Restaurant, World’s Best Airport Leisure Facilities and Best Airport won in Asia.
Airport of the Year 2021 and 2022, Hamad International Airport in Doha, ranked second in the world and won three top awards for World’s Best Airport Shopping, Best Middle East Airport and Middle East Cleanest Airport.
Tokyo Haneda Airport ranked third in the world and won three awards at the ceremony held today (Wednesday) at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Amsterdam: The World’s Cleanest Airport, The World’s Best Domestic Airport and Best Airport PRM and Accessible Facilities.
Awards also flew in for New York, with Terminal B at LaGuardia Airport In addition to the award for the best new airport terminal in the world, it received the highest “5-star airport terminal rating” from Skytrax on the same day.

“Our goal at the Port Authority was to completely transform the customer experience at LaGuardia, from curb to gate, by building a brand new, world-class airport,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton . “Winning this prestigious award and becoming the first North American airport terminal to receive a 5-star rating from Skytrax proves that we have achieved what many once thought impossible: taking LaGuardia from worst to best .”
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport ranks fifth in the world and has been named the best airport in Europe, with Munich Airport receiving the award for the best airport staff service in Europe and the best airport in Central Europe.
Istanbul Airport has been awarded as the most family-friendly airport and the best airport in Southern Europe.
Skytrax, a new award for 2023, has introduced the Art in the Airport category for the first time with the winning airport Houston Airport System in recognition of the art standards at both William P. Hobby Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport. For Art in the Airport, the results are based on the Skytrax jury and not on customer survey results.
Elsewhere in North America, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport won the award for the best airport in North America.
In the Australia/Pacific region Melbourne Airport won the awards for Best Airport in Australia and the Pacific and Best Airport Employee in Australia and the Pacific.
The UK, on the other hand, won no awards in any category.

The World Airport Awards are voted for by customers in “the world’s largest annual customer satisfaction survey”.
