A plus-size influencer has sparked a heated debate on social media after urging taller people not to be afraid to ask for seatbelt extenders on a plane.
Samyra Miller, from New Orleans, posted a 15-second clip on TikTok showing her requesting the item from a member of the cabin crew.
But the 24 year old video professionalbecame inflammatory on social media as people on both sides of the debate rushed to comment.
After seeing the discussion erupt under her video, Samyra posted a follow-up message saying that negative comments are just “striping attempts to rob me of my humanity.”

In the first clip, Samyra can be seen wearing a face mask boarding a plane before looking for a crew member to ask her: “Could I get a belt extender by any chance?”
After just a few seconds, the social media star relented and started to go back to her seat.
And in her caption, she wrote: “Pro tip: ask for it as soon as you get in so you don’t have to wait!”
“Now I let myself stretch out in my chair.”

On one side of the divide, dozens of people supported the opinion, thanking Samyra for sharing awareness that seat belt extenders exist.
One user wrote: “Hope this helps someone who was afraid to ask for one or didn’t know they had that option.”

But there were people who said this moment should have been a “wake-up call” to their “unhealthy” lifestyle.
One wrote: “It’s sad they have seat belt extenders now.”
Another said: “Isn’t this a reality check?”
And a third just said it was ‘no’ healthy’ and that she should not ‘normalise’ it.
The two different camps then started to turn against each other and confused the comment section.
In light of the heated debate, Samyra, who has 1.5 million followers on the video platform, posted a follow-up clip a short time later.
She launched into an angry diatribe while speaking directly into the camera: “Apparently there are a lot of things that fat people don’t deserve.”

Referring to a specific comment under her previous post, she said: “According to this person, we don’t deserve to fly.”
She then elaborated: “According to some clothing brands and designers, we don’t deserve to have clothes, model clothes.
“According to some popular dating apps, we don’t deserve to find love.
“And according to many people, we don’t deserve to eat either.”
Samyra paused dramatically before continuing, “I can tell you what we deserve. We deserve humanity.
‘And [under] the video this comment is on, the video where I ask for a belt extender, the comments are full of persistent attempts to strip me of my humanity.
“And I just wanted to let you all know it’s not going to work. It’s not going to work.’
She spoke about the incident again on her Instagram page, where she has a more modest following of 118,000, and posted another video.
During her furious slapping video, Samyra also added: “I can tell you what we deserve – we deserve humanity.”

She said: “Thanks again for proving my point again. You know people… [justifying] To leave comments like this and claim to care about my health – the health of fat people.
However, the hypocrisy shown in the comments section of my video removes the mask of moral righteousness you like to hide under and reveals who you are: violent bigots who hate fat people.
And there just isn’t a rebuttal that will adequately overcome my analysis because you can’t claim to care about my health and at the same time embarrass me because I need a seat belt extender that is also designed for my health – for my security.
“So please take off the mask – save us this cheap mask ball.”
Samyra posted the clip along with a caption that read, “All because I wanted to be safe on a plane?
“Tire extenders should not be mocked. Belt extenders should not bring shame. Fatphobia should bring shame. Fatphobia must be met with the same toxic fat that people are exposed to when they stand up for themselves.”
