Take a quick weekend trip where I can lose myself and run away Technology and being in constant contact for a few days is one of my favorite things in the world. And fortunately, Spain offers us plenty of opportunities to do this almost literally within a stone’s throw.

One of the most incredible places for a getaway – romantic or not – now that the weather is cold and we want to plan more winter is this incredible Medieval Villa located on the northern slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama just an hour and a half from Madrid. and very close to Navacerrada in case we want to pass the ski slopes.

Pedraza, Spain’s best preserved medieval town

pedraza

This is Pedraza, a beautiful medieval town literally straight out of a movie. And it has been the scene of different movies and TV series such as ‘Land of the Wolves’, ‘Red Eagle’, ‘Isabel’ or ‘Snow White’ and ‘Captain Brando’s Love’. And we’re not at all surprised, because its cobblestone streets, the single-door wall to the Villa or the incredible Pedraza Castle make you feel like you’ve been transported to another time.

Magic is not achieved alone and Pedraza has already been declared a Historic Site in 1951 and a great deal of effort and work has been devoted. keeping this town in perfect state of preservationso we can continue to enjoy the original appearance of its streets and buildings.

Food is another of its great attractions.

Although it is a small town that can be visited quickly, we recommend that you spend the weekend there. One of the reasons is that this town is even more impressive at night – it seems possible to encounter Captain Alatriste around any corner.

But in addition to that, there is another vital reason, and that is why there is only one meal here when there are three meals? Segovian gastronomy shines with endless splendor in Pedraza. Besides the traditional suckling pig we will be able to enjoy other typical dishes such as beans, lamb or Castilian soup. A delight for all the senses.
