A man had a ‘hilarious’ fake tanning blunder while on holiday in Benidorm that left people ‘crying’.
Darren, from Middlesbrough, tried to give his skin a slight glow before going on a date but accidentally fell asleep after applying the lotion.
The panicked 48-year-old tried to wash his face but was unable to remove it, leaving his skin a bizarre shade of ‘orange’.
Darren and his friend Graham regularly share their holiday antics online (@dazza_bigdogbenidorm) after previously going viral for saying it was “cheaper” to travel to Benidorm than stay at home in the UK.
In one of the clips, which has been viewed more than 868,000 times on TikTok, Darren sits on his balcony and paints his face.

He came up with the idea after seeing his neighbors tanning their legs before a big night out and was intrigued.
After talking to them, he decided to join the action. In the next video, friend Graham reveals that Darren fell asleep and a third clip shows the newly woke Brit laughing on his bed.
His date apparently “blocked” him after he told her what happened.
“I couldn’t believe the color I was going to get, I tried to wash it off but I wasn’t having any fun at all,” he said.
“I asked the neighbor how to wash it off and they said it would come off after a shower but it didn’t.

“Anyway, my date texted me to ask if everything was okay before the date, so I told her what happened and she blocked me.
“A few days later it started turning orange and even my beard changed color.”
Social media users were struck by the incident, with some comparing Darren to Madge from Benidorm, who is known for her extremely tanned skin.
Others said the couple were a “burden” and made her “cry”. One user said: “You two are a load, I’d like to go on holiday with you.” [sic]

But despite human help, Darren was unable to remove the paint and is now walking around Benidorm with an ‘orange’ face.
Embarrassed, Darren admitted he had now bought a wig and hat to wear.
He added: “My partner said there was no point staying inside and hiding so we decided to go outside.
“But because of some of my viral videos from Benidorm, I have a lot of people wanting to be photographed with me.
So to dress up I bought a wig and put on sunglasses, but I’m still seen.
“I just decided to leave it now because there is nothing I can do. It’s been a busy week and I’ll never use the stuff [fake tan] again.’
