Andalusia and the coast of Spain are famous places all over the world, but Spain is so much more. For example, Castilla y León also has nice bends. This small provincial capital has a population of less than 80,000 and is in true gems of architecture and unique gastronomic cuisine. French Cave Tour
At Páramo de la Lora in the northeastern part of the state of Palencia lies the protected area of the Covalagua Valley. In this region is located “La Cueva de los Franceses”, near the town of Revilla de Pomar. The only visitable caves in the province of Palencia. Its name comes from the time of the War of Independence, as they were the last warriors to die in a conflict that took place in the Lora steppe.

There is an interior tour that you can see. wonderful karst formations for example: drapes, castings, stalagmites, stalactites, along with the recent installation of an ambient lighting system, allow passage and contemplation. It is also accessed from a modern building called “La Roca”, which houses an exhibition about the cave and the surroundings of Palencia mountain.
Visit the Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy
It is possible that the Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy was overlooked, as it is located next to Palencia’s great Gothic cathedral. At Calle Hospital, next to the cathedral, was the former San Bernabé hospital. It opened its doors in the distant Middle Ages, especially in 1143. and after 843 years of history (no more, no less) he definitively closed them in 1977.

Now the museum shows ancient rooms and kitchen utensils where our ancestors practiced medicine. Inside its walls we can see a long list of different types of flasks, test tubes, measuring instruments, old microscopes and age-old procedures. The museum recreates the most common rooms in any hospital: operating theatres, consultations, chambers, nursing homes, pharmacist, pharmacy… but all maintaining the spirit this place had in its time.
Explore the San Pablo monastery
Next to the train and bus station is the monumental San Pablo site, where its impressive apse welcomes us in front of the statue of Santo Domingo de Guzmán. Perhaps one of the most outstanding monumental complexes in the city, it is not in vain that the church of San Pablo was built. Declared a National Monument in 1931.

Palencia Town Hall
This artistic ensemble, in its current configuration, owes its design in the late Gothic style to the 14th and 16th centuries. The main building is crowned with a magnificent west-facing bell tower with a magnificent neoclassical façade. On the south side, another door opens in late Gothic style, accompanied by an allegorical statue of “tararús”, a tribute to Holy Week in Palencia. Event declared of International Tourist Interest.
