Ukrainian singer Tonya Matvienko has shared rare pictures of her eldest daughter, Ulyana, to celebrate the young woman turning 28 in Berlin.
Matvienko marked the occasion on 6 November by publishing new pictures of the birthday celebrant on Instagram, marking the first time in an extended period that she had publicly shared images of her firstborn.
Accompanying the images, the performer posted an emotional tribute recounting that 28 years had passed since the arrival of her first happiness and the girl who first made her a mother. Matvienko explained that she was not simply proud of Ulyana, but admired her, looked up to her, and felt endlessly happy to be her parent.
She added that she wanted everything to work out for her daughter and wished for all of her dreams to come true. Writing that she did not doubt her daughter would succeed because she was incredible, the singer said she loved Ulyana more than any words could express and urged her to always remain happy.
Family portraits and wedding plans
The singer also shared wider family pictures in which she posed alongside both of her children. The snapshots included her younger daughter, Nina, who was born to fellow Ukrainian musician Arsen Mirzoyan.
The birthday post comes after Matvienko previously revealed that Ulyana is getting married. Her eldest daughter currently lives abroad in the German capital of Berlin, making such public family appearances uncommon for the pair.
Matvienko is a well-established pop and folk vocalist in Ukraine, known across the country for her performances and her appearance on the television competition The Voice of Ukraine. She is the daughter of the revered Ukrainian folk singer Nina Matviyenko, a decorated People's Artist of Ukraine who was celebrated for decades for preserving the nation's traditional musical heritage.
Her husband, Mirzoyan, is also a prominent figure in Ukrainian music, having built a successful career as an acoustic rock and pop singer-songwriter. While Matvienko continues her musical career in Ukraine, Ulyana has maintained her residence in Berlin as she prepares for her upcoming marriage.
