Actor Tom Felton has compared his current real-life appearance to the aged version of his character Draco Malfoy featured in the final Harry Potter film. Speaking in an interview with People, the 38-year-old actor discussed the cosmetic aging process used for the movie epilogue.
The movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, concluded with a flash-forward scene set 19 years after the main storyline. In that epilogue, the adult characters gather at a railway station to see off their children as they depart for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Felton played Draco Malfoy, the antagonist classmate of Harry Potter, across all eight films in the blockbuster fantasy franchise based on the novels by J.K. Rowling. The final movie was released in cinemas in 2011, closing out the decade-long film series.
Felton explained that the hair and makeup department studied his personal family archive to achieve maximum realism for his character's aged appearance. Crew members examined photographs of his father and older brothers, analyzing their hairlines and facial skin condition to predict how the actor would age over 19 years.
The actor ironically noted that the resulting makeup felt unfair compared to how his co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint were presented in the same scene as older versions of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Felton added that in 2026 he believes he looks somewhat better than the aged version of Draco depicted on screen.
Return to Broadway
The comments follow Felton's return to the role of Draco Malfoy in November 2025, when he joined the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Playing the adult version of Malfoy, he became the first star from the original film cast to join the Broadway show.
The stage production, which premiered in London before expanding to New York, serves as an official sequel to the original series. It follows the main characters as adults dealing with careers, marriage and parenting years after their student days at Hogwarts.
