The fourth season of the hit television series The White Lotus will air in the first half of 2027, HBO chief Casey Bloys confirmed.
The new season will be set in France, where the storyline will center on a French branch of the luxury hotel chain welcoming guests for the Cannes Film Festival. Bloys verified the release schedule for the upcoming chapter of the award-winning show.
Vincent Cassel of Black Swan, Alexander Ludwig of The Hunger Games, Steve Coogan of Philomena, and Kumail Nanjiani of Eternals will star in leading roles. Other actors will also join the main cast for the upcoming season. Creator Mike White, who wrote and directed all three previous seasons, returns as the project showrunner.
Show Format and Setting
The White Lotus is a satirical comedy drama that follows a group of wealthy guests relaxing at an elite hotel resort. Their trip takes a dramatic turn when a murder occurs during their stay, sparking tension among the holidaymakers and hotel staff.
French star Vincent Cassel is widely recognized for his work in European and American cinema, while Canadian actor Alexander Ludwig, British actor Steve Coogan, and comedian Kumail Nanjiani bring international prominence to the ensemble cast. The Cannes Film Festival is an annual film event held on the French Riviera, attracting filmmakers and celebrities from around the globe.
Award Success and Production
The first season of the show premiered in July 2021 and quickly gained critical acclaim. It went on to win 10 Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe awards, establishing the franchise as one of the most successful original television series on American cable network HBO.
Production details for the French season will continue under White, who created the concept. HBO, a television subsidiary of Warner Bros Discovery, has not yet announced an exact premiere date beyond the initial broadcast window for early 2027.
