Guy Ritchie's crime comedy series The Gentlemen will return to Netflix for its second season on September 3, 2026, bringing back lead stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario as their aristocrat and gangster characters expand an illegal drug empire into Italy.
The eight-episode second season, produced by Moonage Pictures, Miramax Television, and Netflix, picks up one year after the events of the debut installment. The new storyline follows former army officer Eddie Horniman and drug operation manager Susie Glass as they clash with the Italian mafia while dealing with increasingly questionable decisions made by imprisoned syndicate chief Bobby Glass.

Release date and episode details
Netflix officially renewed the series for a second season in August 2024 following the debut of its first season on March 7, 2024. The streaming platform later announced that production on the second season had commenced on May 28, 2025, before releasing a teaser trailer on July 9, 2026.
All eight 50-minute episodes of the second season are scheduled to launch on September 3, 2026, conforming to the streaming service's standard single-day release format. The British-American co-production holds an 8.0 rating on IMDb and a 7.8 rating on Kinopoisk. Created and showrun by Ritchie, who serves as director and co-writer alongside Matthew Read, the series carries an 18+ age rating.

Origins and connection to the 2019 film
The series is set in the same fictional universe as Ritchie's 2019 feature film of the same name, although the characters do not overlap. The 2019 movie, which starred Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell, and Jeremy Strong, focused on Mickey Pearson, an American who constructed a lucrative cannabis syndicate using lands leased from declining English aristocrats. Pearson's attempt to sell his enterprise sparked conflict involving Chinese triads, Russian oligarchs, corrupt businessmen, and mixed martial arts fighters.
The television adaptation centers on Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, who unexpectedly inherits his late father's country estate along with the title of 10th Duke of Halstead. Upon taking ownership, Eddie discovers an extensive marijuana plantation hidden beneath the property, along with rival criminals seeking to take control of the operation.
Official promotional material for the first season described how Eddie discovered the estate was part of a cannabis empire and attempted to outplay the gangsters at their own game to protect his family. Eddie initially sought to sever ties with the illegal operation managed by Bobby Glass, but encountered constant interference from his drug-addicted elder brother, Freddy, who resented being bypassed for the family inheritance.

How the first season set up the sequel
As Eddie and Susie Glass resolved a succession of crises, Eddie gradually altered his perspective on the Glass syndicate and his own role within the criminal world. When Bobby Glass announced plans to put his cannabis empire up for auction, Eddie eliminated rival bidders to win the sale himself.
However, Bobby subsequently revealed that the auction was a test to evaluate how effectively Eddie and Susie could collaborate and determine whether they were capable of taking over the business.
New plot direction and Italian setting
The second season takes place one year after Eddie and Susie joined forces to manage Bobby's criminal empire overseas. According to official plot details released by the creators, the duo must decide how to proceed as Bobby's decisions become progressively more questionable while they expand the enterprise.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, lead actor Theo James stated that the second season would be larger in scale and darker in tone than the first. James noted that while the show maintains its comedic and entertaining tone, repeating the original setup would be less engaging, adding that the new story required greater depth as the leads face opposition from the Italian mafia.
