Taylor Swift brought homemade cookies to the cast of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit while filming a pre-taped sketch for the 2026 Emmy Awards, according to co-star Kelli Giddish.
Giddish, who appeared in the skit alongside Mariska Hargitay, revealed the gift in a Sept. 15 interview with Women In Entertainment, a day after the sketch aired during the Emmys ceremony on NBC.
"She's totally sweet, down to earth, a beautiful spirit, and made really good cookies," Giddish said. "They were sourdough, brown butter, chocolate chip."
"And I'm kind of a cookie snob," the actress continued, "so I was really pleased."
Hargitay hosted this year's Emmys and stars as Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, the long-running NBC police drama. Giddish, 46, plays Detective Amanda Rollins on the same series.
Swift's cat makes a cameo
Giddish said she had one request when she learned Swift, 36, was making a cameo on the show: that the singer bring along her cat.
"We were so happy to host her," Giddish said. "Mariska told me about it, and I was like, 'Can she be holding her cat?'"
Swift's cat, Olivia Benson, named after Hargitay's character, appeared in the sketch alongside fellow SVU stars Ice-T, Peter Scanavino and Aime Donna Kelly.
Inside the Emmys sketch
The parody centered on Benson and the rest of the Special Victims Unit trying to crack the case of whether Swift would attend this year's Emmys.
"The Emmys are tonight and the mayor's office is breathing down my neck demanding an answer to the big question, will Taylor Swift be at the Emmys?" Hargitay says in the skit. "Now, in order to crack a Swiftie case you gotta think like a Swiftie, because Swifties think that everything is a clue to what she'll do next."
Swift then enters the scene playing an NYPD rookie. "Guys, this isn't adding up," she says. "Perp has a clear M.O. A lot of this doesn't fit the pattern and I don't think everything is a clue. I think what we're going to be looking for is hiding in plain sight."
In true Swift fashion, she went on to drop what appeared to be an Easter egg, telling the camera cryptically, "Saccharide Aries from the vineyard, north or south."
Swift ultimately skipped the Emmys. Instead, she cheered on her husband, Travis Kelce, at his first Kansas City Chiefs game of the NFL season.
2026 Emmy winners
The sketch aired during a ceremony that produced several notable wins. Jean Smart took home her fifth lead actress in a comedy Emmy for playing Deborah Vance on Hacks, and her eighth Emmy overall, beating fellow nominees Lisa Kudrow and Elle Fanning.
Noah Wyle won his second straight Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy for The Pitt. David Harbour won supporting actor in a limited series, anthology or movie for DTF St. Louis, and Shailene Woodley won guest actress in a drama for Paradise.
Rhea Seehorn picked up her first Emmy, winning lead actress in a drama for Pluribus over fellow nominee Carrie Coon. Zendaya was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for Euphoria alongside The Testaments' Chase Infiniti.
The Netflix anthology series Beef went home empty-handed on Sept. 14 but had already won three trophies at the Creative Arts Emmys the previous weekend.
