Actress Sydney Sweeney has performed aerial acrobatic stunts on the wing of a biplane over Headcorn, near Ashford in Kent, while secured by a harness.
Sweeney posted video footage of the wing walking flight to her social media accounts, showing the aircraft completing full turns and a loop that left her completely upside down.
Equipped with standard safety gear, the star of The Housemaid smiled and blew kisses to the camera throughout the maneuvers. She captioned the clip with a message warning actor Tom Cruise to watch out.
Stunts over Kent
The acrobatic display drew direct comparisons to Cruise, who performed a similar wing walk sequence in Mission: Impossible - Final Reckoning as part of a complex action scene.
The Mission: Impossible film series reached a culmination with Final Reckoning, which revisited elements that defined earlier entries to conclude the story of protagonist Ethan Hunt. While rumors have pointed toward a ninth installment with director Chloe Zhao attached, the main series as previously known has concluded.
Franchise reboot possibilities
Cruise originally launched the cinematic franchise by adapting the 1960s television series created by Bruce Geller, building an espionage universe centered on high-tech gadgets and action. Cruise created the Ethan Hunt character specifically for the films, whereas the original television series ran for seven seasons with an ensemble cast.
If Paramount Pictures chooses to continue the franchise without Ethan Hunt, reviving a character from the television series presents a potential direction. One prominent candidate discussed by commentators is agent Cinnamon Carter, played by Barbara Bain during the first three seasons of the original show.
The Cinnamon Carter concept
In the original series, Carter operated as a specialist in infiltration, disguise, and deception, leveraging intelligence, social skills, and sensuality to disarm targets. A modern reboot or spin-off featuring Carter would maintain her focus on manipulation while navigating contemporary challenges such as digital surveillance, mobile phones, and ubiquitous cameras.
No project involving Sweeney as Cinnamon Carter has been announced, and Paramount has not signaled plans for a reboot. However, revisiting classic characters from the television era remains a viable option should the studio seek a new lead for the franchise.
