Television presenter Susanna Griso will return to host the Spanish morning current affairs show Espejo Público on Monday, August 31 at 9:00 a.m., launching the program's 20th season on Antena 3 with a special live broadcast from Ceuta.
The special broadcast from the autonomous city follows several weeks of summer vacation for Griso, whose break was marked by her wedding to media executive Luis Enríquez.
Spanish media group Atresmedia has begun promoting her return to daytime television, where she will anchor the magazine show during its usual Monday through Friday schedule.
As the show enters its milestone 20th season, management is implementing structural adjustments to reshape its daily schedule and editorial focus.
Shift away from daily celebrity gossip
Under the revised format, Espejo Público will reduce its daily emphasis on entertainment and celebrity gossip, known as crónica rosa.
Show directors confirmed that celebrity news will no longer feature as a fixed daily segment. Instead, the show will adopt a more flexible approach, covering entertainment news only when a major story warrants coverage.
The management team said the change is intended to avoid filler content and allocate more airtime to major political, social, and economic stories that drive public interest.
Despite the structural change, entertainment journalists Gema López and Nando Escribano will remain with Espejo Público, maintaining their roles on the show when celebrity news arises.
Broadcasting live from Ceuta
The decision to host the season premiere live from Ceuta will allow Griso to report on the latest local developments from the autonomous city on the North African coast.
Ceuta is a Spanish autonomous city located on the border with Morocco in North Africa, frequently featuring in national news coverage regarding regional politics, border affairs, and economic policy.
Griso is one of Spain's best-known television journalists and has hosted Espejo Público on commercial network Antena 3 since 2006, establishing the show as a cornerstone of daytime broadcasting in Spain.
Antena 3 is operated by Atresmedia, one of Spain's primary media conglomerates, which broadcasts national television channels and radio stations across the country.

Ahead of the new season, Griso expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming broadcasts, stating that she intended to take a more active stance and engage more deeply with current events than in previous years.
