A group of women walking through the streets of Sochi in swimsuits angered social media users after video footage of their stroll circulated online.
The clip was published on the Krasnodar and Krai Telegram channel. According to the channel, the women decided to stage a demonstrative promenade following criticism directed at vacationers who appear in swimwear away from beach areas.
The creator of the video said that if anyone wondered who the women walking naked around the city were, it was them walking beautifully. She added that if viewers did not like it, they did not have to walk there, but that the group enjoyed it.
The footage provoked strong backlash from viewers on social media. One user described the Russian women as disrespectful monkeys. Another commentator said they perceived the behavior as disrespect toward local residents, noting that people cannot walk around the city in swimwear and calling it a violation of public order. The user added that beaches are designated areas where swimsuits can and should be worn.
Other commenters questioned why bystanders passed by without making a remark. One person asked whether the tourists would walk around their home city in the same manner if they lived in Moscow.
