Heavy metal band Slipknot announced they will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson, confirming reports the DJ and keyboardist was kicked out after 28 years.
The band posted a brief statement to Instagram that has since been deleted. The group wrote, "Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson."
The message remains on the Instagram account for Knotfest, the band's music festival. The statement added, "We wish him the best in his future endeavors."
Knotfest added a caption to the post. It read, "Slipknot have parted ways with Sid Wilson. The announcement could briefly be found on the band’s website."
The Daily Mail contacted the band for comment. The confirmation follows initial reports two weeks ago that claimed the 49 year old was ousted on July 31 as one of the longest serving members of the group.
Classic lineup changes
An insider close to Slipknot spoke to TMZ about the development. It remains unclear what caused the fallout.
Wilson was the ninth person to join Slipknot in early 1998, completing the now iconic nine member lineup. He was known for gas mask inspired designs and high energy stage antics, which included dives and scrambling up venue structures.
Before his departure, Jay Weinberg was the last member to leave the band in November 2023. At the time, they cited they had "decided to part ways."
The classic lineup from their 1999 self titled debut album featured Corey Taylor, Shawn "Clown" Crahan, Joey Jordison, Paul Gray, Mick Thomson, Jim Root, Craig Jones, Chris Fehn and Wilson.
Only vocalist Taylor, percussionist Crahan, and guitarists Thomson and Root remain from that group following dramatic changes over the years. Bassist Gray died from an accidental drug overdose in 2010. Drummer Jordison left the band in 2013 and died in his sleep in 2021.
Slipknot dismissed percussionist Fehn in 2019 after a legal dispute over compensation. Keyboardist Jones exited in 2023 under circumstances that were never publicly explained.
Separation from Kelly Osbourne
The departure completes a difficult year for the musician. Wilson announced his separation from his fiancée Kelly Osbourne in March.
The couple quietly ended their engagement seven months after he proposed at her late father's final concert with Black Sabbath in Birmingham in 2025.
They share a three year old son, Sidney, who is named after his father. Insiders told the Daily Mail that Osbourne endured a "difficult" month coping with the split while continuing to focus on being the best mother she can be to their son.
A source said, "Kelly and Sid have decided to call off their engagement. Kelly has been struggling following the loss of her father. The grieving process has been incredibly difficult, and she's been doing everything she can to cope."
The source continued, "In truth, she and Sid have been facing challenges in their relationship for some time, and things were not as they appeared. They tried to make it work, particularly for the sake of their child, but ultimately decided that separating is the best path forward."
The insider added, "Kelly has endured a great deal over the past year. Despite everything, she remains sober and is now focusing on herself and her role as a mother moving ahead."
History with Osbourne
Osbourne first met Wilson 27 years ago when Slipknot toured with Ozzfest, a music festival founded by her parents.
On Valentine's Day 2022, she posted a photo of the couple kissing. She wrote, "After 23 years of friendship, I can't believe where we have ended up. You are my best friend, my soulmate, and I am so deeply in love with you, Sidney George Wilson."
They welcomed their son Sid later that year and lived together on a farm in Iowa.
Osbourne and Wilson were last pictured together at the Grammy Awards in February. She has only made public appearances with friends or her mother, Sharon, since then.
Wilson proposed backstage at the Black Sabbath show in front of her entire family, presenting her with a huge diamond ring. Ozzy, Sharon and her brother Jack were present. She later said she had "no clue" the moment was coming.
